About the Conference
The 25th anniversary of this annual conference promises to be a major event for campus public relations and communications officers as well as representatives of higher education media. Reporters and editors will participate in panel discussions and explain how colleges and universities can interact effectively with them as they report on higher education issues. In addition, college and university public relations professionals will share best practices and approaches to publicizing campus activities and pitching stories to the media. Networking with colleagues in communications, marketing, and media and public relations from around the country is one of the major benefits of the conference. Past participants of the conference have described the event as “by far the best opportunity for college media relations professionals to discuss what they do.” Another said, “I am amazed at the quantity and quality of the A-list media people who participated.”
25th Anniversary Special Events
The 25th anniversary of the conference will be celebrated in the nation’s capital with a special event at the National Press Club, a tour of the Newseum, and visits to The Chronicle of Higher Education, Inside Higher Ed, National Public Radio, and C-SPAN. Given the popularity of the “Meet the (Higher Ed) Press” concurrent sessions at the 2010 conference, these sessions will again be offered in 2011.
In addition, the preconference workshop on Wednesday, June 29, will focus on “Mastering the Maze of Social Media.”
